Title :
A signal analysis and classification strategy for implementation in an EW communications receiver

Abstract :
The PV3800 series broadband communications receiver has been developed for use primarily in military electronic warfare systems. The receiver incorporates a digital signal processing unit, enabling its functionality to be determined by its software load. Several software variants have been developed, to enable the receiver to perform a range of functions within EW systems. The paper defines the requirements met by the signal analysis variant of the receiver, and describes the implementation of the modulation recognition function. The aim has been to develop a flexible approach to the classification problem which will readily lend itself to future enhancement and in particular will support modification to meet individual customer requirements
