  • Abstract
Optical multiplexing in a multi-service broadband network can reduce the cost and regulatory problems of bringing broadband services to the subscriber. Optical switching offers a flexible network management tool releasing the full flexibility and capacity of the medium to the service vendor. Careful consideration of electrical and optical multiplex protocols will identify the most promising network configurations to exploit the technology now coming to market
