  • Abstract
    We use the Fourier series algorithm to design a filter, but we do not use the window functions. Instead of this, we use the genetic algorithm (GA) on the discrete cosine transform (DCT) of a given band-pass characteristics. For the attenuation characteristics, we have already mentioned this procedure, so we only mention the delay time characteristics. This paper´s method is useful for an ASIC equalizer (filter) design through a reduction of the number of coefficients. An example shows that the proposed method can reduce the high order Fourier coefficients by a half for a given band-pass characteristic. These coefficients are compressed in half
