Abstract :
Describes the essential features of an intelligent mobile system (IMS) for sharing Band I (47-68 MHz) with primary TV signals, and presents early results of a practical study being carried out in a laboratory. The main idea of the proposed system is to introduce scanning technology in an LMR system for efficient use of a shared radio spectrum. A fast scanner scans the current 14 pre-assigned TV vision carriers listed as transmitters in Europe. By comparing their received level the base station can decide on the least interfering part of the spectrum and a mobile station receiving a basic station message should suffer the least interference, and also not cause interference to European mainland TV receivers
