Abstract :
Outage probability calculations are discussed as a method for estimating the reliability of reception in multiple interferer mobile radio systems in which the received signals suffer both `Rayleigh fading´ and `lognormal shadowing´. Such calculations are particularly relevant to the design of cellular mobile radio systems. The use of selection diversity to improve the service reliability is also considered
