Abstract
A reduced bandwidth minimum-phase modulation scheme has been described which can be used for mobile radio services. The proposed scheme offers bandwidth economy equivalent to that of conventional SSB. Also, during periods of low modulation depths, simple envelope detectors can be used with negligibly small demodulation distortion. It has been shown that envelope distortion increases gradually with modulation depth. The proposed reduced bandwidth scheme was found to offer a reliable operation under severe propagation conditions. This favours applications such as mobile radio where bad propagation conditions are not uncommon. A new correction method to eliminate demodulation distortion has been presented, and the simulation results have shown its effectiveness
