Abstract
Hermite-Laguerre-Gaussian beams and spiral beams are the wave fields, whose intensity is structurally stable under propagation in Fresnel diffraction zone and focusing. The only difference between both beam families is the beam intensity behaviour. An HLG beam propagates without rotation, but any spiral beam intensity rotates on a fixed angle, when the beam propagates from the waist plane to far zone. This work is devoted to investigation of the beam families, applying to the problem of focusing of a homogeneous beam into a field with predetermined intensity shape
