Abstract
The author discusses which of the many sources of impairment in the transports of digital video tape recorders (DVTR) are particularly important, and describes a method for resolving the overall impairment into these constituents. This method includes one stage of nonlinear analysis (of a potential family of nonlinear distortion mechanisms), and is implemented on a computer simulation system
