Description of a 3D tracking compass symbology

In avionics display formats conventional 2D instrument formats cannot be easily integrated into 3D display space. So a graphical display symbology called a 3D tracking compass is proposed that is fully integrated into the 3D avionics display space. The symbology could be used in any 3D display application where range and bearing from current eyepoint need to be ascertained rapidly.
