Abstract :
Disc-based removeable recording media are well suited to audio recording, especially where the recordings might need minimal editing prior to their broadcasting. Optical technologies are well suited to archival applications since the recording is buried below the surface. In many other ways, the optical disc recording systems that are being developed for computer applications appear well suited to audio recording applications. It is not considered that the broadcaster´s requirements are so much different from domestic or other industrial applications of the technology. Therefore, the potential of optical discs has been examined and some methods devised which might allow the broadcaster to capitalise on the development of this technology which is at present targeted to domestic and computer industry applications
