Abstract :
The junction of the A10 Great Cambridge Road and Bullsmoor Lane is the northern most signal installation in London. Consideration was given to solutions which would employ to the full, the benefits of microprocessor technology. One of the concepts considered was the double ring concept employed in American controllers and it was decided that with development it would be appropriate for the Great Cambridge Road and Bullsmoor Lane junction. Despite the difficulties associated with the specification it is considered that this method of control is a useful additional measure for engineers. It reduces the levels of lost time for phases in conflict with relatively light flows
