Abstract
MEGa-rays (Mono-Energetic Gamma-rays) of unprecedented peak brilliance can be created via the optimized interaction of laser light with relativistic electrons. MEGa-ray sources enable nuclear photonics; i.e. the excitation and manipulation of the nucleus with photons.
