  • Abstract
Programme Delivery Control (PDC) provides a means of greatly improving the home recording of television programmes, both by simplifying the process of choosing programmes for recording, and by precisely controlling recording at the actual time of transmission. The EBU PDC system was developed, in close consultation with manufacturing industry, for wide application and will operate with all television programmes, whether delivered by terrestrial broadcasts, by cable or direct to the home from satellite. It concentrates on the use of CCIR system B teletext data structures to provide the transport of PDC signals. Where this is not possible, or in recognition of the other types of data broadcasting services already implemented in some countries, the specification defines the necessary alternative data structures
