Abstract :
The NTSC system has been used for more than 35 years and it has maintained a key position in the mass media, but a higher picture quality is increasingly required with the progress in large-sized and brighter TV receivers an EDTV system that improves the picture quality and is compatible with the current NTSC system has been developed. The authors introduce EDTV technology and describe the basic concepts of the system development
