Abstract
The GTO type of device with its high peak current capabilities is well matched to resonant inverter applications which can be controlled to ensure zero turn-off current and enable operation up to more than 20 kHz. The authors use a computer simulation of the circuit to give a clear picture of the operating modes, peak voltages, currents and available output which can be used by designers to develop high power resonant converters. Limited test results confirm the model restrictions
