Abstract :
As the overexposure of personnel aboard ships to electromagnetic fields must be prevented, the protection against the hazards of non-ionizing radiation from antennas fed by high-powered transmitters is important. Such a protection is usually realized by organizational methods based on radiation protection areas on deck. Various standards and guidelines are enforced to ensure safe levels of radiation. The evaluation of radiation levels on deck around the RF-antennas is based on the magnitude of the electromagnetic field as criterion. This paper presents results of a new numerical code and compares them with results of common software as well as to measured data. In regard to the confidential nature of some data, the paper presents all results in a normalized form. The aim of this paper is the presentation of the used methods and not the presentation of exact numerally results.
