Abstract :
The authors show the development of a lumped parameter circuit which accurately accounts for variations of rotor resistance and inductance due to frequency components introduced by inverters. Two methods of allowing for saturation of the stator and rotor tooth tip leakage flux are outlined which increase the accuracy of the simulation. An example shows that the simulated torque of a sinusoidal input motor compared favourably with the measured results. A second example shows that additional analysis of harmonic effects in the rotor can be carried out using the new model. This model uses only design data, it requires no testing to obtain parameters and can thus be used to predict problems prior to manufacture of either the inverter or the motor
