Abstract :
Since every insurance company has several channels for selling the insurance to customer, it was very good business area for applying the product line engineering concept. With common business components, each channel application can be produced by reusing and extending them. But the problem was variability management. Variability management is the most important in product line engineering. It is a basic and essential principle to identify common elements as components and to make them assets of product line. These days, business rule is getting more critical key for successful RTE (real time enterprise). It means separating rules can make easy change or fast adapt to new business context without modifying application. The elements of variability which change with each application are viewed as variability of business rules. Therefore, when there is need to change business requirements; this is resolved through rule changes. We applied rule concept to manage the variability in business components. We constructed business components, rule components for variability in business repository and produced channel application based on this repository and customizing the rule. With insurance product line, the productivity and quality for channel application was increase
