Abstract :
In this paper the use of IEEE 802.16 based networks for voice communications is considered. Specifically the system voice traffic performance is investigated in conjunction with the carrier grade QoS restrictions. The burstiness of voice traffic with VAD is taken into account. Analytical methods for carrier grade voice traffic over IEEE 802.16 system evaluation under different scheduling algorithms for UL transmission are proposed. Numerical results demonstrate an application of the analytical method for IEEE 802.16 system dimensioning and envisage some system characteristics.
