Definition, configuration and evaluation of Technology Innovation Capability in Open Innovation paradigm

Based on previous researches on Technology Innovation Capability (TIC), this paper has redefined TIC as a firm´s technology acquisition and application capability both internally and externally under innovation strategy based on capital investment. The Open Innovation (OI) Theory emphasizes the significance of external technology and resources, which has made a breakthrough of traditional Close Innovation Paradigm. This paper has developed a structure of TIC with components of technology acquisition capability, manufacture capability, market capability, technology export capability and innovation strategic management capability. This paper has improved the research in TIC evaluation in the new paradigm where external resources are considered of the same significance of the internal in both technology and complementary assets.
