Abstract :
The authors indicate the Electricite de France policy concerning the ability of 24 kV switchboards for public distribution to withstand an internal arc. The technical specification requires particularly a `failure to break´ test in addition to the IEC requirements. The power test facilities of Les Renardieres High Power Laboratory (LEP) have made it possible to define and demonstrate the validity of effective technological solutions before using the equipment on the network
