Abstract :
The authors present the results and the major findings of a research study conducted to investigate circuit breaker failures in the Upper Egypt Zone of the Egyptian Unified Power System network for the 66 kV, 33 kV, 11 kV, and 6.6 kV voltage levels. The total population of circuit breakers considered in this study is 881 distributed per location as: 107 indoor and 774 outdoor, per voltage level as: 89, 220, 524 and 48 for the 66 kV, 33 kV, 11 kV and 6.6 kV respectively and per interrupter as: 747 oil, 85 air and 49 of other types
