Abstract
Interruptions in the electricity supply to the customers are mainly caused by faults in the medium-voltage network. Some 80% of non-delivered energy and nondelivered power can be attributed to such faults. So when reductions in the cost and space requirements of medium-voltage switchgear are being considered, the effects of such reductions on the reliability of supply to the customers must be taken into account. Network and installation configurations must always be considered in context. Within the framework of such integrated networks and installation planning, simplified medium-voltage switchgear was devised and has been successfully implemented within the TWS network. These installations are the subject of the paper
