Abstract :
Advances in semiconductor technology mean that the broadcast quality charge-coupled device (CCD) television camera can compete with the TV tube camera. Although a CCD sensor is an analog device, it needs digital circuits to drive discrete charges to the output registers and transfer the optical picture into an electrical video signal. Through this development the professional CCD television camera has high sensitivity, better noise suppression, a better signal to noise ratio, better dynamic resolution good spectral response and less aliasing. The authors discuss resolution, camera response, signal-to-noise ratio, sensitivity and aliasing effects measured on the professional television cameras JVC KY 25 with Fujinon lenses and 728(H) x 587(V) CCD interline sensors
