Abstract
There is an essential need to provide a solution to reduce the elder care expenses according to growth in ratio of elderly population in the world and the high cost of health care services that are offered for each elderly person. Tele-homecare is one of the most appropriate solutions for this issue. The importance and necessity to provide a new approach for elder care has been discussed in this paper. In the next step, general elder care needs, which are important for all of elderly individuals, have been investigated. Then tele-homecare system standards for the elderly have been considered. A permanent tele-monitoring in order to care old persons at home is designed based on existing communication protocols and channels.
