Abstract
Active Neutral Point Clamped (ANPC) topology is an optimization of NPC converter and is very attractive in medium-voltage applications. In this paper, a new solution able to detect any type of power semiconductor switch fault inside the ANPC converter is proposed. This strategy allows to achieve fault tolerance of ANPC converter without alteration of the converter architecture, owing to the insertion of three couples of Rogowski coils in the six clamp branches.
