Optical character recognition using a new connectionist model

Describes the development of a system for recognising hand drawn capital letters, which is designed to be position, scale and rotation invariant. The object of the paper is to investigate the performance of a new unimodal form of connectionist model when coupled to a reprocessing stage. The new connectionist model is briefly derived and its error surface is shown to be unimodal
