Abstract
This paper presents an analytical approach based on Minimum Singular Value (MSV), Hankel Singular Value (HSV), Direct Component of Torque (DCT) and Residue method for the selection of most appropriate control input parameter of static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) in order to ensure effective damping of oscillations in power network. A comprehensive study has been performed on Single Machine Infinite Bus (SMIB) to comment on the design considerations. The results obtained demonstrate the capability of the method which is confirmed in the perspective of practical operating scenario.
