Segmentation of apparent 2D motion fields

Inter-image techniques revolve around two main ideas: (i) motion estimation; (ii) motion field segmentation (which is a vital compression operation performed on data to be transmitted). After a brief reminder of the motion estimation algorithm used, the main section of this paper deals with the motion field segmentation algorithm. The guiding principle behind it is the combination of motion informations and spatial contents from the sequence of original pictures.
