    This paper addresses the requirements for the supply of reactive power on the UK National Grid Company (NGC) transmission system. The criteria for voltage control and the demands for reactive power on the NGC transmission system are discussed, together with the requirement for reactive reserves. The current reactive tariff arrangements are reviewed. Finally, the requirements for a reactive service are presented
