Abstract
An algorithm described has been implemented using the C programming language on a microcomputer with incorporated frame grabber. Thus a readily available clinically applicable tool has been developed. Tests have been carried out using test objects constructed in Perspex which simulate arteries of various diameters and also asymmetric stenoses. Results obtained from the computer show good agreement with those expected. In particular the advantages of videodensitometry over diameter measurement are demonstrated for an asymmetric stenosis
