Abstract :
We present a reset-transition removal technique for four-phase burst-mode and extended burst-mode (BM/XBM) controllers, namely reshuffle the input and output bursts in a state by relocating them to its neighboring states. The illustrated examples of the reshuffled results demonstrate the improvement on the concurrency and the tradeoff as the consequence of the optimization. We further demonstrate the actual speedup about 20% of the reshuffled optimization on the eight benchmark circuits by using the FPGAs. The effectiveness of this reset-transition removal technique is impressively promising and applicable on the asynchronous controllers that are generated by BM/XBM synthesis tools. Moreover, a significant measurable improvement is still attainable by our reshuffling technique after the manual optimization is performed.
