Abstract :
The author discusses what typical vertical operations are and the advantages they have. Using 1 bit registers gives a completely variable wordlength. He discusses: matching and searching operations and their vertical efficiency; bit-algorithms; and Chebyshev approximation of transcendental functions (Ln, T-polynomials, differential equation transformations; linear equations for coefficients; computing variables by recursion; and difference equations)
