  • Abstract
The authors present a user-oriented design tool for E- and H-plane lossless waveguide junctions. The circuits considered are bounded by two parallel conducting planes and by one or more cylindrical sidewalls of arbitrary shape. The P-ports are placed on rectangular waveguide sections, which, in the frequency band of interest, permit the propagation of interest, permit the propagation of the dominant TE10 mode only. They assume that the medium is homogeneous, isotropic and lossless. The algorithm has two distinguishing features: the inclusion of a very efficient code to perform the analyses needed to evaluate the error function; and the use of a perturbational technique to obtain its sensitivity to geometrical deformations. Both features, which are discussed, contribute to keep CPU times within reasonable limits, making feasible the design of complicated junctions
