Abstract :
Low cost 850 nm vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) technology has caused renewed interest in multimode fiber for high speed data communication. Gigabit per second (Gbps) or faster performance such as this had previously been left to single-mode fiber based system solutions. This paper reviews the transceiver launch condition and fiber modal tuning development completed to achieve this performance
