Abstract :
The Numerical Electromagnetics Code (NEC) can be modified to treat general dielectric and magnetic media by the introduction of magnetic wires. The use of magnetic and electric currents to model such media has been described by Govind et al. (1984). By inputting wire meshes at the interface between regions of different constitutive parameters, objects such as spheres with coatings, targets with radar absorbing material (RAM) or parts of constant dielectric can be modelled without using a volume mesh of wires. It should also be possible to model surface depressions (e.g. slots) without modelling the ground plane explicitly, just as it is possible to model protrusions by imaging
