  • Abstract
    We present a novel multiwavelength and high bit rate laser source using an actively mode-locked semiconductor-fiber ring laser. This method is based on a gain medium in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) that is used as an inhomogeneously broadened gain element. It is possible to obtain the simultaneous oscillation of several wavelengths with channel spacing less than 1 nm in a single cavity at room temperature
