  • Abstract
Performance of a power system for hybrid optical fiber/coaxial telecommunication network including fault and stability analyses is presented. It is found that the power system can function normally against a single fault in the drop segment of the distribution network. However, when two faults occur simultaneously, the power system collapses until the faults are cleared by opening the protective devices. The transient behavior of the system is also studied and stability criteria are presented. It is shown in the paper that the power system is stable if the output filter capacitor in the home terminal power supply is greater than 10 μF
