  • Abstract
In this paper, feasibility of ray tracing method for indoor channel modeling in medical implant communication service (MICS) frequency band is investigated. The error of using far-field equations inside the indoor environment is calculated. Using this error, the statistical model of ray tracing error during an indoor random walk simulation is estimated. Results show that for more than 90% of points, the error is less than 50% which is fairly acceptable for channel modeling applications. Then, the ray tracing method is used to extract heart implant channel model. The most fitted probability distribution function (PDF) for path gain is log-logistic. In addition, shadowing effect of different postures of body in a normal walk cycle is examined for a wrist implant antenna. Results show that body postures during the walking lead to extra fading.
