Abstract :
Three blanket design concepts were evaluated for the High Average Power Laser (HAPL) chamber. These include a self-cooled lithium blanket, a helium-cooled solid breeder blanket, and a dual-coolant lithium lead blanket. The nuclear features of the three candidate blankets were compared. The Li blanket seems to be the preferred option based on neutronics considerations. However, other considerations should be included for selection of the reference blanket
