Abstract :
Software engineering technology transfer to developing countries is examined with emphasis on experience in Singapore. It is noted that the most serious problem is the lack of a well established industrial infrastructure in developing nations. The second most important factor is the need for an adequate number of local technical professionals to tailor the newly introduced technology to local applications. It is concluded that a carefully plotted national strategy, meticulous training programs, and the correct implementation policy from the local government of the developing nation are essential elements for assuring the success of software engineering technology transfer
