CuteLoop - An Approach for Networked Devices Enabled Intelligence

The number of electronic networked devices that can potentially connect the Internet simply exploded over the last several years in both private and public environments. They are covering a wide range from passive RFID tags up to personal computer like “all-in-one” devices. The CuteLoop project is researching a framework for using such networked devices for enabling an intelligent support of business processes within the integrated enterprise. Due to complexity of interrelationships and number of actors in supply chains, specifically decentralisation of business process coordination and reduction of required information exchange is addressed. Innovative features were identified based on the requirements analysis in food chain and craftsmen business environments. The paper presents a research approach, which tackles these two business environments aiming specifically at the realisation of innovative interaction potentials in decentralised and distributed settings. Furthermore, key technical challenges addressed and the main features of the CuteLoop Framework are presented. The main goal of the paper is to demonstrate how the CuteLoop project employs a networked devices enabled intelligence (NDEI) for the usage in the integrated enterprise.
