An expert system to assist operators of the power system control centres

Discusses the interaction between the information system and the operators in power system control centres. This interaction is not very easy in the systems in use, because they do not take into account human limitations. The authors present an expert system that gives special importance to dialogue with the operators. The graphic interface is very interactive, being based on a system with windows and buttons. The expert system presented is a good decision-support tool, providing the operators with an intelligent analysis of the available information. The expert system works on real alarm lists received at the Portuguese control centres
