Abstract :
The Intelligence Workstation Human Computer Interface (IW/HCI) represents an exciting new development in the field of human-computer interfaces for information- decision-action systems. It offers a graphical user interface with a consistent look and feel across software applications, an intuitive method of operation, a sophisticated information exchange mechanism and comprehensive database access features. In addition, it utilises the emerging open system software standards for machine-independent operation. The IW/HCI has been specifically designed for the demanding requirements of military command-information-systems. However, it is also seen to be applicable to a wide range of systems which require historically traceable decisions and actions to be made on the basis of highly dynamic and incomplete information
