A discussion is given on the issues arising from the management problems of incorporating satellites into corporate networks. Specifically, the following areas are addressed: the part that satellites have to play in corporate networks, and how they are to be managed; the relevance of management standards, with reference to the OSI and the corresponding CCITT standards; and the development of suitable network management workstations, including and idealised architecture
