Abstract :
This paper presents a simplified PWM strategy of matrix converters for reducing input current harmonics. The authors have proposed instantaneous effective value which is the effective value during one control period for evaluation of PWM patterns. That evaluation scheme takes long for calculation of instantaneous effective values. Then, in this paper, simpler evaluation scheme of PWM patterns based on the signs of output currents is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed PWM strategy has been verified by experiments.
