Abstract :
A broadband (13%) microstrip array antenna with high efficiency, low cost and low weight has been designed and evaluated. The antenna is foam supported and is about 0.15 \\lambda thick. The feeding is accomplished by a separate microstrip network. This antenna is compared with two dielectric loaded microstrip antennas, one with a separate stripline feed network and one with an integrated microstrip network. The foam supported antenna is preferred because of lower cost and better electrical performance.
