Abstract
This paper presents the development of an alert system that detects abnormal system conditions for the Power Transmissioner Porto Primavera (PPTE) substations. This routine enables the PPTE operators to have a pro-active position during Brazilian National Interconnected System (SIN) disturbances, providing information that describes the types of some known contingencies when it occurs, even if the event is external to PPTE system. The system is based on Artificial Neural Network (ANN), trained from some SIN´s disturbances simulations results. The ANN inputs are buses PPTE net voltage, current and frequency.
