Abstract :
IEEE 802.11n standard was a response to growing demands of high throughput multimedia applications over wireless networks. In spite of improvements by this protocol in physical layer rate by adding MIMO antennas to the pervious standards, some new features are mentioned in MAC layer to achieve high throughput. In this paper, we introduce an analytical model for IEEE 802.11n which analyzes different features of this protocol based on the mathematical modeling of network and also an evaluation tool. This tool enables users to analyze wireless network by defining different scenarios. The main distinction between this tool and other analytical tools, especially simulation tools supporting IEEE 802.11n, is speed and accuracy for generated results. Simulation tools must execute a scenario several times due to their random input feedings. This reduces their speed and could be bottleneck for evaluating very large scale networks. Compared to others, our tool analyzes the network in terms of throughput and delay much faster.
