Abstract :
This paper presents a novel approach for model order reduction (MOR) for multilayer lossy RF embedded passives. The approach starts with a quasi-static PEEC model with conductor loss and dielectric loss being taken into account. A basic network Y-Delta transformation is used to establish a recursive process to "absorb" those insignificant internal nodes. In order to deal with the lossy elements effectively, the concept of complex capacitance and inductance is introduced. The proposed MOR approach can effectively convert a physical layout of a multilayer RF circuit to a physically expressive circuit model. One numerical example of a spiral inductor is given to show the validity and the powerfulness of the new approach.
